The X factor is a variable or element in an equation that makes the difference or gives and advantage. When people say that baptism has no part in man's salvation, it is taking the X factor out of salvation. The X factor is not the water. The X factor is God. The Bible says God works (operates) in baptism (Col 2:11-12). To say that baptism is not important is to take the one "factor" that can remove sins (God) out of the equation.
